The tussentijdse toets is a mock exam at the CBR: a real examiner, the same set-up as the practical exam. It gives you honest feedback and you can earn an exemption for the special manoeuvres. Here you read what it involves, what it costs you and when it is worth doing.
What is the interim test?
You drive with a CBR examiner beside you, exactly as at the practical exam. Your instructor normally rides along, so she hears what is said. The CBR calls it a kind of mock exam, meant to get you used to the exam situation in advance.

What do you get out of it?
- Honest feedback Right after the drive you hear at the exam centre what already goes well and what still needs work. So you know what your last lessons should be about.
- Exemption If you do the special manoeuvres well, smoothly and safely, the examiner won't test them again at your next practical exam.
- Less unknown territory You have seen the exam centre and know how an examiner talks and how the drive goes.
What do you need to arrange?
For an interim test you must be at least 16 and a half and have passed your theory exam. Your theory result has to still be valid on the day of the test.
- You authorise us at the CBR, so that we can book the test for you.
- We pick a moment together, usually when you are two thirds to three quarters through your lessons.
- You fill in the Zelfreflectie (self-reflection) form beforehand.
- You bring a valid ID. Without it the test cannot go ahead.
At the CBR the test costs the same as a practical exam. You'll find the amount in the CBR's current fees; our costs for the car and the accompaniment come on top of that.

Worth it: the first time is already behind you
You drive once with a real examiner, without a result attached. For many pupils that takes away the biggest tension on exam day.
Worth it: you hear honestly where you stand
The examiner tells you what already goes well and what still needs work. Then you use your last lessons for exactly those points, instead of a bit of everything.
Less useful: wait a little
You'd mostly hear what you still have to learn, and you know that yourself. We'll tell you when the test will really pay off.
